Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
A few quotes that I loved:
"We all bear scars, Dorian. Mine just happened to be more visible than most."
"He loved her, and no empire, no king, and no earthly fear would keep him from her. No, if they tried to take her from him, he'd rip the world apart with his bare hands. And for some reason, that didn't terrify him."
*I'm not even sure if these are consider spoilers so i'm not marking it to hide it, just be warned. I'm stating some obvious things that you could've guessed by reading the back and what not"
Can I just say; Wow
This book literally tore my heart out and threw it out the window near the end. The last time a book made me feel this way was when I read Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare.
You meet this deadly assassin who is imprisoned in this camp, where most prisoners die after a few months but she lasted a whole year. This girl, who's just 17, killed more people than an army could together. Then you watch her grow stronger and you watch her open up just slightly to a Prince and the Captain of the Guard and even slightly to a Princess. You watch her fight for her freedom against men that looked stronger than her.
You also meet a Prince, who like most 19 year old Prince's think he can get with any girl until he meets this one. Not even knowing that he would fall for an assassin, out of all the women he could have, he falls for her. He makes it quite clear also.
Then you meet one of his closest friends, the Captain of the Guard, who is only 22 formly an heir to Adalan until he decided to become the Captain. He has this dark/cold feeling about him when you first meet him. I the beginning you could tell that he was ify about bringing the assassin home but he tends to warm up, a lot.
I'm hardcore in love with Chaol, sorry Dorian
Overall it was an amazing book and I'm so glad I got to read it. Time for the second one!
